The extension of the Suburban Railway connecting Lechería to the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) represents a critical expansion of Mexico’s regional transit infrastructure. This 23-kilometer rail corridor builds upon the existing network between Buenavista and Cuautitlán, integrating five new intermediate stations and a terminal to provide high-capacity connectivity to the international airport. Designed as a strategic multimodal link, the project streamlines commuter flow and supports the economic integration of the region through modernized, high-performance rail transport.
Directing this major initiative required comprehensive contract management and direct coordination with the Transportation Office of Mexico to align project milestones with institutional mandates. A central challenge of the development involved a high-intensity fast-track production program, overseeing the transportation and assembly of a massive inventory of precast structural components. This included more than 150 heavy-duty elements weighing between 60 and 160 tons, alongside over 1,100 secondary elements.
The project focused on the seamless coordination of multidisciplinary teams and the rigorous management of subcontractors to maintain progress across the 23-kilometer span. By balancing complex financial planning with strict safety and quality assurance protocols, the process ensured that the rail extension’s sophisticated structural requirements were met with technical precision and administrative transparency.
